About Us
Welcome to the Cornish National Onomastics Research Group. We are a project hosted by the Institute of Cornish Studies, University of Exeter. We are interested exploring unique aspects of Cornish identity and language as expressed through personal and place names, and particularly how names have been shaped by the experiences of Cornish people and the landscape they lived in. There are four broad periods of interest, the ancient era up to 300CE, the early medieval from 300 to 1100CE, late medieval from 1100 to 1560, and modern era from 1560 to the present. It is our intention to publish papers progressively on these topics.
